Pembroke rest day.

We've had a fascinating tour of the Pembroke Castle, led by a retired history teacher named Gareth whose enthusiasm for the subject really made it most enjoyable.

The story of Henry VII's mother, Margaret Beaufort who was only 14 when she gave birth to him, was particularly interesting. Also intriguing was the life story of William Marshall, who was instrumental in the creation of the Magna Carta.

The building has a circular stairway leading down to an ancient limestone cavern, which dates back to the Mesolithic time and later the Iron Age.
