We had a rest day yesterday in Dorchester, going for exploring walks.
Today, we decided to catch the train to Bournemouth instead of cycling because the weather was forecast to be dangerously windy and wet, and also we were not sure whether the two ferries would be operating when there are strong weather warnings.
As it turned out, the train trip was a good idea because the rain and winds were very strong the whole way. We met two other separate cyclists who also got on the train for the same reason. One was an Irish guy who was on his way from Waterford in Ireland to Southampton for a family wedding. The other was a Polish guy who had been on a mushroom collecting trip amongst various forests. He was explaining about how amazingly beneficial they are, and how the Europeans have been using them for health treatment for centuries. He looked pretty fit and healthy, so maybe there is something in what he said.
We're staying at Premier Inn, Bournemouth East.
