27th May 2011 Christchurch to Ashley Gorge 65km
Afer spending 3 days in Christchurch we cycled into the Canterbury Plains which is a huge flat area along the east coast of the South Island. It is amazing to see all the giant hedges along the farm lands. Most hedges are about 5 m, some are about 25m. For the last 15 km of the ride Les was riding slower and slower. It was only after we arrived that we realised that she had a very soft tyre and a slow puncture. Anyone who cycles knows how much harder it is to ride with a soft tyre. Ashley Gorge very rustic and we had it all to ourselves.
