Caught bus to Kaikoura, which was very boring and exhausting. Will not catch another bus unless absolutely essential. Kaikoura stunning, with amazing ride along cliffs and past seal colony. Cycled over vast mountain range called the Hundalees - very slow going up, but over 50kph downhill. Finally made it to The Staging Post in Hawkswood. Stayed in the old coachhouse with beautiful open fire and large country kitchen, all to ourselves. The farm had just seperated the cows from the weaner calves , so the poor cows moo'd all night. Dined on eggs and produce from the garden, compliments of the hostess Linda.
