Thursday 1st September 2011 Bergen aan Zee to Wormerveer 54 km

Great ride through a nature reserve, down quiet country lanes and along canals and dykes.  Today is the last day of summer and the weather is crisp and sunny (20 c).  We saw hundreds of geese flying overhead honking loudly.  I believe they are migrating south before the winter comes.  Maybe we will see them again in Spain.

We rode through Alkmaar which is just like old Amsterdam, but without the crowds and litter.  We are staying at "The Boerentuin Hus Bed and Breakfast" which is a lovely old house with a big garden right in the town centre.  The owner, Reena, has a sister who lives near Denmark in Western Australia.  The hosts and the bed and breakfasts are so friendly and attentive.
