Wednesday 31st August 2011 Purmerend to Burgen aan Zee 42km

Delightful ride to Burgen ann Zee which is right on the beach on the North Sea coast. 
The check point number system on the cycle path network makes navigation so easy.  It's a bit like a treasure trail- you make your way to point 23 and at that point it directs you to say point 32 and so on. You can write down the check point number order before you set off if you have the correct map and just tick them off on your list as you reach them.  It saves a lot of time and map reading.

We stayed at the Storm Vogel Pension and start our big ride towards Maastricht tomorrow.  From Maastricht we are planning to ride west across Belgium through Antwerp,Brussels, Gent, Brugge and Oostende, but may chanage plans once we get our hands on the Belgium cycle maps.
