It took us the whole day to do 39 km, because the Sustrans rout markers appear to have been removed, and our phone apps kept dropping out. On top of that I (Ash) have picked up a terrible bronchial infection.
In Southampton, we saw the famous Union Castle House, which was the departure point of many thousands of British emigrants including my father and his brother in the late 1940s.
I'm feeling very unwell, and hope I recover soon to tackle the French leg.
Route: Southampton - Hamble - Warsash Ferry - Titchfield - Stubbington - Gosport - Alverstock - Ferry to Portsmouth.
