Friday 7th October 2011 Hayle to St Ives 10km

We've booked into an apartment - "Seaview apartments" - in St Ives.  It has a big bay window in the lounge looking on to the amazing view of the harbour and the town.

Compared to Kings Lynn, St Ives is like a breath of fresh air.  It is the most charming place we have encountered since we have arrived in Europe.  There is a sense of peace and calm here.

There is a little house near the beach where Daphne du Maurier used to stay regularly in the 1940's.  Rosamund Pilcher was born here so it must be conducive to creative writing.  Also the amazing quality of the light attracts many artists and we are going to visit the Tate Gallery while we are here.
