It's only 30 km to Colchester, but we managed to do 38 km today. We rode into Manningtree and got lost, and had to backtrack about 4 kms.
Colchester is the oldest recorded town in England, and the local village was the home of the artist John Constable where he first started painting his famous landscapes. Also, not far from here is the place where Thomas Gainsborough lived.
The most important thing about Colchester is that it is the birthplace of Les' maternal grandmother!
We have now done 1144 km since arriving in Europe.
