Thursday 29th September 2011 Leiston to Acle 80 km

Cycled through Suffolk and crossed into Norfolk at Beccles.

When we got to the ferry point at Walberswick there was a sign up saying that the ferry is now only running on weekends.  This meant that we would have to back track for about 2 hours, but I happened to ask the local about the ferry and he directed us to an old railway bridge only 20 minutes up river, which saved us a lot of trouble.   We had to take another ferry later on in the day but that was running OK.

We saw a lot of golden pheasants today.  They don't hear us coming until we are right next to them and then they get the fright of their lives.  Suffolk and Norfolk is experiencing unseasonal warm dry weather.  We had a beautiful tail wind all day today.
